Led Zeppelin IV free essay sample
This is the CD. Though originally released in 1971, the distinctive and varied songs are timeless. It has everything: hard (but not metal) rock with songs like ââ¬Å"Black Dogâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Rock and Roll,â⬠funky blues in ââ¬Å"When the Levee Breaksâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Misty Mountain Hop,â⬠and folk in ââ¬Å"Going to Californiaâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Battle of Evermore.â⬠The incorporation of the harmonica, played by incredible vocalist Robert Plant in ââ¬Å"When the Levee Breaks,â⬠the mandolin played by guitarist Jimmy Page in ââ¬Å"Battle of Evermoreâ⬠and the use of four drumsticks by John Bonham in, you guessed it, ââ¬Å"Four Sticks,â⬠helps make each unique. Every song is a masterpiece, especially ââ¬Å"Stairway to Heaven,â⬠arguably the best rock song of all time. Seven of the eight songs on ââ¬Å"Led Zeppelin IVâ⬠were huge radio hits back when the album was released not that surprising since this is still the fourth best-selling album of all time. The creative intensity in both melodies and lyrics shine through in every song.
